Tai Correa shares her hopes for girls in sport

What an amazing experience being part of the Female Performance Camp this week, alongside Tabi. It truly means so much to me to not only coach, but to also create an environment where our young girls feel supported, empowered, and valued.

In the gym, we focused on building posterior chain strength to support growth and protect the knees, developed landing mechanics and ankle stability, and practiced reaction drills for quick and efficient change of direction.

In the classroom, I shared the 4 key behaviours that influence optimal health and performance - nutrition, training load, recovery and environment. We also spoke about Low Energy Availability (LEA), learning strategies to avoid it so the girls can fuel their bodies properly for training, school, life, growth, and recovery.  One of them being very simple: get the basics right. Breakfast, lunch and dinner. No skipping meals.

Looking forward, my vision is to continue building safe spaces where girls can learn, ask questions, and feel confident in both their sport and themselves. Education is the key, and I am so grateful to play a role in guiding the next generation of strong, resilient athletes.

For the girls that missed out on registration, don’t worry, we plan to do this again sometime soon. Stay tuned.

Thank you to all the girls and parents that came along. It means a lot!
